Top 5 sights
Dubrovnik
The deck of your ship offers great views of the city,
but for a close second, scale the heights of Mount
Srdj on a spectacular cable car ride. From the aptly,
if somewhat unimaginatively named Panorama
restaurant, you can drink in the breathtaking vista of
the Old Town and Adriatic beyond, over a cool beer or
a plate of seafood. A real “pinch yourself” moment.
Seville (tours from cadiz)
The largest Gothic cathedral in the world, with a
central nave reaching an incredible 42 metres, the
Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See is a breath-taking
monument and designated UNESCO World Heritage
Site. It’s also the final resting place of Christopher
Columbus, and his elaborate tomb is hard to miss,
even in a building as vast as this.
Pompeii
A must-see excursion from Naples, the UNESCO World
Heritage Site of Pompeii makes for a fascinating
daytrip. This once thriving empire was obliterated
by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD, with 30
feet of volcanic ash preserving forever this snapshot
in time. Exploring the ruins of the city and reflecting
upon the devastating power of nature is an intensely
moving experience.

Naples Pizza Village – Britannia B627 –
A 3 day festival celebrating the city’s
most famous export.
Rome
Where to begin in a city as grand as Rome? Well,
we’d begin by tossing a coin in to the Trevi Fountain
to ensure you’ll return at a later date! For something
a little different, if a little eccentric, visit the Capuchin
Crypt. Located beneath the church of Santa Maria
della Concezione dei Cappuccini, this collection of tiny
chapels is decorated with the bones of an estimated
4,000 monks of the order.
Venice
Pretty much the whole of Venice is a must-see in our
book, placing Venice at the very top of the to-do list
for most visitors to the Med. From St Mark’s Square,
step inside the ornate Doge’s Palace, adorned with
countless works of art and home to an impressive
armoury, before taking in the infamous Ponte dei
Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs) whose evocative name was
bestowed upon it by British poet Lord Byron.
Tip:
If you find yourself in need of refreshment
after your exertions there’s surely no finer
spot in Venice to quench your thirst than the
world famous Harry’s Bar, birthplace of both
the Bellini and Carpaccio, it’s only a few
minutes’ walk from St Mark’s Square.
The Unmissable Med!
With so many destination highlights we’re positively spoiled for
choice when it comes to compiling a list of Mediterranean must-
sees, dos and eats, but that hasn’t stopped us from having a
go! Perhaps you might like to compile your own list of magical
Mediterranean moments and see how it compares.
