St Petersburg, Russia
With 342 bridges connecting its many rivers and
canals, guess which nickname has been bestowed
upon St Petersburg? The second largest city in Russia
is also home to the world’s second largest collection
of Fabergé eggs. Indeed, you can even find a
Fabergé museum dedicated to all things elliptical.
Of course, the mother of all museums remains The
Hermitage, said to contain a staggering three million
artefacts within its treasure-packed halls. It’s said
that if you were to spend a minute looking at each
exhibit, you‘d need a mind-boggling 11 years to see
them all. Happily all of our cruises give you two full
days in St Petersburg, so potentially you’ll only need
another 4,013 days to view all the exhibits!
Helsinki, Finland
Enjoying almost 19 hours of daylight during the
summer months,”The Daughter of the Baltic”
as Helsinki is known, spans a collection of over
315 islands, and was voted 8th best city in the
world to live in as recently as 2014. Built on a grid
system, the straight streets make it easy for first
time visitors to find their way around, handy if
you’re out shopping for some of Helsinki’s unique
souvenirs such as salty caramel liquorice or canned
reindeer meat! This is a city filled with quirky
charm, humour, and style, particularly throughout
Cities straight from the fairy-tales!
Enchanting medieval architecture and twisting
cobblestone lanes. Magnificent imperial palaces and
verdant parks. Sandy seafronts and little mermaids. Oh
yes; there’s more to the Baltic than first meets the eye!
