For a tailored quotation, please call our Flights
Department on 0845 356 0005 (option 4).
We’d recommend that you take our Flights
and Transfers option to ensure that you arrive
at the ship on time and get home as promptly
as possible. If you do not take the Flights and
Transfers option, any flights you take will not
form part of the package provided by us and
will not be covered by our ATOL protection.
You will also need to ensure that you leave
sufficient time in each case to reach the ship at
least 2 hours before the departure time stated
on your tickets. The Flights and Transfers option
is subject to availability and flight dates and
prices may change from those shown.
Regional departures – please note
a) Flights will be booked via London or an
international gateway at the discretion of
P&O Cruises. If a same day connection is not
possible, the cost of overnight accommodation
will be at your own expense.
b) Flights are offered subject to airline schedules
available at the time of booking. Should
subsequent schedule changes result in no
regional service being available from a particular
airport, no alternative transport will be provided.
Parking at the airport
Details of airport parking facilities can be found
and booked through your Cruise Personaliser.
Please note that if your fly-cruise holiday ends in
Southampton you will need to make your own
arrangements to collect your car upon return.
Going ashore
Getting from ship to shore
Wherever possible, your ship will dock at a
quayside allowing you to come and go as you
please via the ship’s gangway. Sometimes, in
smaller ports, the ship will anchor at sea and
tenders will offer a free and frequent service
ashore, such ports are represented by symbol.
Depending on the number of people wishing to
go ashore, you can normally expect to be ashore
about an hour after the time of arrival.
The symbol indicates ports that we usually
berth alongside but at which, in exceptional
circumstances, we may need to anchor the ship
at sea. While the ship is in port, naturally the
restaurants, bars and other facilities (except the
shops) are available.
Shuttle buses
With our Select Prices, shuttle buses will be
offered free of charge in ports where they are
provided by P&O Cruises. If other promotional
prices are introduced, these will not be offered
with free shuttle buses in port. The prices for
the shuttles vary according to the port and will
be advised once on board. A shuttle bus port
information guide can be accessed through your
Cruise Personaliser.
Port information
In some countries we’ve listed the main
destination in the itinerary and shown the port
in brackets e.g. Rome (tours from Civitavecchia).
In these circumstances we take you to the port
advertised and then offer shore excursions
to reach the main destination. Where the
ship berths some distance from the port
centre, passengers who wish to go ashore
independently will usually find local public
transport connections and private taxis close to
the ship. If you book a Select Price we also offer
shuttle buses free of charge in ports where they
are provided by P&O Cruises. There are certain
ports (where alternative local transport options
are limited or where there are health & safety
reasons), where we will offer free shuttle buses
to all passengers regardless of whether you have
booked under Select Price or other promotional
prices. For full details on our fare types please
see our ‘Payment & pricing’ section.
Time in port
The time the ship will be in port will vary from
cruise to cruise and port to port. For each cruise
in this brochure we have indicated under each
port whether our port call will be a half day, a full
day, an evening, two full days or a combination
of these descriptions. In this summary you will
find a guide to how long the ship will usually be
in port in each case.
Half Day – A half day call will usually be a
minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 7 hours
Full Day – Normally a full day call will be a
minimum of 7½ hours and a maximum of 11 hours
Evening – Will usually follow a full day in port
and the ship will depart after 9pm
Two Full Days – Normally will be a minimum
call of 32 hours and a maximum call of 40 hours
Please note that the timings given above are
based on the ship’s arrival and departure times,
not the length of time you will have ashore.
These are intended as guidelines only as the
actual times may vary. We will keep you regularly
updated of arrival and departure times while you
are on board.
Shore excursions
When you arrive in port you’ll want to make the
most of every minute of your time ashore. We’re
here to help you do just that, with a diverse
choice of shore excursions on offer in every port.
We understand that everyone’s different.
One person’s idea of bliss may be lazing on a
beach; another’s may be exploring a museum
or swimming with turtles. That’s why we offer a
whole host of experiences, so there’s something
just right for you:
Town & City | Countryside & Scenery
Independent Explorer | Once in Lifetime
Family Fun | Activity | Local Experience
Tours also range in duration, from a couple of
hours to a full day. This way, you can make each
day your own. Full details of shore excursions
available on your holiday can be found on your
Cruise Personaliser. Here are some of the benefits
of taking a shore excursion:
Exclusively P&O Cruises
– There’s just one pick
up point (which is usually at the bottom of the
gangway) and you’ll only ever be joined by your
fellow sailing companions. You’ll also have an
English speaking, expert local guide on hand, to
bring the destination to life.
Timely tours
– Leave the clockwatching to us.
We’ll make sure your tour fits around the hours
you’re in port and we’ll get you back to the ship
in time for sailaway celebrations.
Safe & sound
– It’s a safe and secure way to
explore. We ensure that every shore excursion
operator has a safety management system and is
insured by a reputable insurance company.
No hidden extras
– There’s no additional
charge for transfers and, where stated, entrance
fees are included. We’ll also aim to get you to
the front of the queue and, where advertised,
provide lunch and refreshments.
Secure your place
– A number of tours are firm
favourites and often sell out quickly. If there’s
something that catches your eye, you can secure
your spot in advance of your cruise through your
Cruise Personaliser.
Expert advice
– If you’d rather book on
board, you can seek the expert opinion of our
shore excursion specialists – just pop along
to the Shore Excursions Desk. There are also
complimentary port talks you can view and, by
booking with P&O Cruises, should you have any
questions about your tours, we’re on hand to
help, even in the middle of the ocean.
Been there, done that?
– We’re always adding
new tours so even if you’ve been to a port before,
there’ll be something new for you to enjoy.
Health & safety
Notifying us of medical conditions
It is important that you tell us a minimum
of 72 hours before departure if you or your
travelling companions have a disability (including
visual and hearing impairments) and/or any
medical conditions so that we can ensure you
have a fantastic holiday. After notifying us we
will send you a questionnaire so that we can
ensure we meet any requirements you might
have. If you have a medical condition that
necessitates the use of oxygen, will be taking
an oxygen concentrator or cylinders with you,
will be bringing electrical medical equipment
or medical sharps, or if you require peritoneal
kidney dialysis, you must let us know when
you make your booking. For the safety of all
passengers we are unable to carry any
